Keller Independent School District is a K-12 public school district that serves more than 33,000 students in the state of Texas. The district encompasses 51 square miles in a rapidly growing region that builds about 3,000 new homes each year, which in turn brings an estimated 2,000 new enrollments every year. Keller ISD serves all or portions of the cities of Keller, Fort Worth, Haltom City, Watauga, North Richland Hills, Hurst, Colleyville, Southlake, and Westlake. Because of the high percentage of growth in the community, the district has added 21 new campuses in the last ten years and is on track to becoming one of the largest school districts in the entire state.
For several consecutive years, Keller Independent School District and each individual campus have received a “Met Standard” accountability rating from the Texas Education Agency. “Met Standard” is the highest of three ratings given to every school and district in the state.
In addition to that, almost half of the schools in KISD have received one or more Distinction Designations, which include Academic Achievement in various subjects, Student Progress, and Post-Secondary Readiness. As of 2013, Keller ISD had about a 95% graduation rate and offered almost $50 million in college scholarships. To those interested in employment, the beginning salary for a teacher in the district is $50,000/yr.
